Roasted Baby Hippo
During my undergrad, we joked that the "Hip of Beef" served in the cafeteria was really "Hip of Beast" or Hip o' Beast." I have learned that this curious label is ubiquitous. Students far and wide use an identical nomenclature. Hilarious. But, enough of that.
Imagine being served a plate upon which stood a tiny roasted hippopotamus! It measured no longer than seven inches from tip to tail with, perhaps, a two inch inseam. As for height, well, I would guess six inches at most. Nothing else was on the plate, just a tiny hippo that was able to stand, despite having been roasted. No veggies, no potatoes, no rice: just a tiny semi-aquatic even-toed ungulate.
Now, I am not one to panic at the prospect of undercooked food, but my hippo looked a bit rare. The hippo served to C, beside me, looked similarly undercooked, but C did not seem to mind. She prodded it with knife and fork, looking for convenient points of cleavage, and I believe she found one, though the caudal.

This was a dream? This blows my Dick Cheney nightmare out of the water in terms of weirdness.
Ah, Dick Cheney. Why would any man agree to be called Dick? What's wrong with Richard?
I just wish I knew what the dream means.
I have no idea but weird is said way to much about it..

Did you watch that snake regurgitating the hippo video recently? Maybe your subconscious was concerned that all hippos be thoroughly cooked before eaten.
jewlegirl: that's an interesting thread. I have often thought that FB and Twitter are having an impact.
Jen: I haven't see that video, but I guess I will have to look it up.
Hippo beef! That one line took me back to our undergrad days at U of Goo.
Funny I made pizza this weekend and thought that Pete and I were the only ones that ordered anchovies on ours.
I still don't understand anchovies, or sardines for that matter.
Along with things like fire eaters and earwax, the dream symbol dictionary @ dreammoods.com actually lists hippos...
"To see a hippopotamus in your dream symbolizes your aggressive nature and your hidden strengths. You have more influence and power than you realize. Alternatively, it indicates that you are being territorial. Perhaps someone is overstepping their boundaries.
To see a group of hippopotamuses in your dream, suggests that you need to escape from the daily grind and relax."
Nothing about tiny roasted hippos, though.
And nothing about eating them either. Hmm.
I've looked up some of your symbols on an online dream dictionary and offer this interpretation:
The hippo can represent aggression. This is a quality you are unwilling to stomach, but C has no problem with embracing that side of herself. Do you find her excessively territorial, stubborn or agressive? Since she cut off the tail, your dream is saying that she will suffer misfortune because of her careless ways. I'm guessing that C is your wife, since the length of the hippo (7) represents your need for uniqueness and eccentricity, while the height of the hippo (6) represents domestic bliss.
Not that I believe in this stuff...
Well, FWIW, I've come to the decision that the dream is telling me that I should bread hippos and harvest them as a food source. I just need to figure out how to make them tiny.
