George Benson: Weekend in L.A. (1977)

This is a double album's worth of live Benson. I prefer it when he plays the guitar and doesn't sing. But, some people like the singing. I would rather have an all-instrumental album, but you have to give the people what they want, I guess. If you want your own vinyl copy, it's easy enough to find, for as little as couple of dollars.

George Benson: Breezin' (1976)

Allmusic says this about George Benson:

"George Benson is simply one of the greatest guitarists in jazz history, but he is also an amazingly versatile musician, and that frustrates to no end critics who would paint him into a narrow bop box. He can play in just about any style -- from swing to bop to R&B to pop -- with supreme taste, a beautiful rounded tone, terrific speed, a marvelous sense of logic in building solos, and, always, an unquenchable urge to swing."

There's not much I can add to that. Breezin' is a mellow affair, maybe verging on adult contemporary.  But, listen to this album and you cannot deny that there is some amazing guitar work. Here's a live version of the title track, which is much better than the studio version, if you ask me.
