Eating Glass & Other Dreams

OK, so once again, I had a dream in which I was eating glass. The dream focussed more on the after affects of eating glass, like trying to expel the endless stream of it from my mouth with as little damage as possible. To make matters slightly more complicated, I was spitting the stuff out while cycling and trying to keep up with the person ahead of me. This was not your average glass, but that fine thin glass one finds in expensive wine glasses, if that matters. I have had this dream many times over the years. Yes, I have looked at online dream sites, but I am not convinced of the interpretation.

Another curious dream featured David Gilmour (the musician, not the writer), who, while fulfilling his rock and roll duty as main guy in Pink Floyd was also a star member of Britain's National Football club. Aware that he was shunning the queen by not playing in a key match, he put on his guitar and joined Floyd on stage while wearing his football jersey & cleats. By the way, this was the younger long-haired Gilmour. I have no idea if Roger Waters was there or not.

Hmmm.....

Wow. That is odd.

Gilmore?

Heh, as long as you don't see Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, or the other members of Black Sabbath, you know you're not having a nightmare...

Wacky dreams!!

Seems to me the glass thing would have something to do with feeling fragile? What do the dream sites say?

I'll have to go back and check what they say. For some reason, I forget already :-(

Funny, I just dreamed the other night that my mouth was full of glass and the more I tried to pull out the large shards before they cut me, the more I shattered them into smaller pieces until I was literally almost choking on the small pieces of glass that were trying to slide down my throat. The websites have been unhelpful to say the least and meanwhile I can't get this dream out of my head. I wish someone could tell me what it means...

calysto,

that's a better description of what i was actually experiencing in my dream. eating was not quite right: trying to get it out was more like it. it was not really a pleasant dream.

i just googled eating glass in dreams and your blog came up. i have this dream from time to time too and last night i dreamed it was an expensive champagne glass that broke off in my mouth....equally as strange as the glass in your dream...and then after i pull out the bigger pieces of glass from my mouth, there is just more and more (you mentioned an endless stream as well) i wasn't cycling at the time, i was at a party and couldn't talk to anyone b/c i was trying not to choke on all this glass....weird!! i found online that it means, "To dream that you are eating glass, highlights your vulnerability, confusion and frailty. You may have difficulties in communicating your thoughts across and getting the right words out." interesting...

I guess I am vulnerable, confused, and frail :-) It could be worse, I suppose...

I just woke up completely disturbed. My throat feels like there's still something stuck in it. I had exactly the same dream. I was on vacation and put a wine glass in my mouth. It turned into two? and when I took the glasses out of my mouth two huge pieces were chipped and missing! I didn't feel it at first and then I couldn't speak. I remember people being with me but I called 911 and they couldn't understand me because I didn't want the pieces t cut me. I ended up pulling those two pieces out and then there were more and more small fragile pieces, like the expensive glass you're talking about. By the end I was on a bike too!! I was out in a beach/jungle and missed my turn. I kept spitting and vomitting pieces of glass that started turning into colors and pieces of glass x-mas ornaments. It was a horrible dream. I still feel weird from it. The dream sites I've looked on are talking about the fragility and vulnerability aspects but I'd love to know more.

Interesting. Oddly, I don't think I've had such a dream since I wrote the post! I don't know what that means.

I get that spitting, chewing glass dream on rare occasions. Last night was one of them. Something I stumbled upon was that it may be related to teeth grinding and stress. Something to keep in mind at that next dental appointment.

zydeco fish said...

I guess that sounds like a reasonable explanation, though I am not sure that I am that stressed :-)

Well, glad to read I am not alone. This morning for the first time in my life I had a dream that loads of shattered glass was coming out of my mouth. I was actually standing over a garbage can as it was coming out. The glass didn't cut me; I didn't see any blood. Thank goodness. It was crazy. Plan to stay contemplative about it and see what interpretation unveils for me.

Hi,

I cam through your blog while searching for my dream.

I'm a 41 yrs old woman just started fastfood business in Turkey.

Fine glass, the first one was orange kept coming out of my mouth but no bleeeding. I was a guest in a very luxurious house but the bathroom I was spitting was very shabby. I don't know what they all mean but felt very disturbed.

I dreamt last night about this. For some reason my mouth was filled with tiny sharp glass pieces.. like the kind that are there when the window to the bus shelter breaks. I was trying to get them out of my mouth without cutting myself, and when they were mostly out I filled my mouth with water to rinse but I choked on a piece and coughed. When I coughed blood went everywhere and I looked in the mirror to see I had sliced up my lips and they were bleeding.

I don't know how old this post is, but I found it by looking for this dream. Now, to say I am amazed is an understatement! So many people having the exact EXACT same dream! Last night I dreamed i had noticed a big piece of glass in my mouth. After I thought I had removed it, I was very nervous to realize that there were alot of tiny little thin shards in my mouth, cutting into my gums and everytime I moved my mouth to breathe or something, I just munched into them. I don´t remember if there was alot of blood or not. Very freaky that so many people are experiencing this. I don´t buy the blanket interpretation about being fragile, btw. Maybe some kind of signal coming in from OUT THERE?

omg!!! this is really interesting idk why this keeps occurring but for about 3 months i keep getting these dreams here and there. usually my mouth is full of glass and i keep trying to spit it out and then theres just these lil pieces left and some times i had to slide my tongue under my teeth so that i can scrap all the tiny pieces of glass from my tongue last night was the first nitght that i had had the dream and blood was everywhere. my family keep asking what was wrong but i couldn't talk because of all the glass i spit blood everywhere and its didn't hurt but was disturbing i hate this dream nite before last i had a similar dream but this time it was black tar and it stuck together like thick taffy it just kept coming out as i pulled please someone out there can u interpret this reoccurring dream i feel its trying to tell me something!!!

Oddly, I haven't had this dream since I posted this, so maybe that was the cure :)

I have this dream a lot and it usually turn outmy nose is stuffed and I am breathing through my mouth, so my mouth is very dry. I think that has a lot to do with it.

I dreamed of pulling shards from my mouth last night. It was awful and people were just standing around! The pieces became larger the more I pulled from my tongue! I spit the bottom of like a soda bottle out the left side of my mouth. I got lost also in my dream, though it was a familiar place. People were trying to attack me as I tried to find the right way out. This one man literally blocked me from stepping on the side walk! I had to play side to side to get around him! It was awful! Someone I knew h.s.offered me a ride and someone I know now was there. They were smoking fake cigarettes and offered me and I took it! I don't smoke. Then she dropped me too far from my stop. I just kept encountering obstacles! My son woke exactly at 6am. Boy was I glad!!! But now I'm pondering...7/18/12

Joining the club here---in my case a fitful sleep in a cold room after i had posted an unusually wordy/belabored and a bit critical a bit bombastic comment at a spiritual blog I frequent; I was basically pretty proud of the much-time-spent-on but perhaps show-offy comment.
In my case the pieces were little bits of mirror and stuck in hard-to-reach places in the mouth but no pain or blood really, just the need to keep the area relaxed to not worsen the situation & cut oneself. Interestingly i enlisted another person or 2 to help extract, one an old problematic frenemy the same sunsign as the blog author's where i'd posted! Thus, the interp. that strong words/communication conflict is the symbol is appealing

I just woke up very freaked out by this dream and stumbled upon this blog in a search for meaning. It's amazing how many others have had this specific dream and still there seems to be no concrete meaning yet. In my dream my mouth was completely full to capacity with glass pieces so I went to the bathroom and started to carefully pull them out in front of the mirror. Even after pulling out may of the bigger pieces, my mouth was always full. I tried to rinse out the glass with water from the sink but it didn't help and I could feel small glass particles being swallowed with the water in my throat. I looked in the mirror and noticed my bottom lip was cut and bleeding in the middle. I am a bit shook up now...

Hi guys. I was Googling up these glass dream interpretations and found this one quite similar to mine. I cud do with some help interpreting mine, please. It was that I had a choice to brush my teeth with 3 different toothbrushes and I chose the oldest one, dunno y. .and after I was done brushing I found that it left pieces of fine broken glass in my mouth, which I was trying to rinse ver carefully with water, so it doesn't hurt me. Another thng was that it was not hurting me but I knew it was glass and cud feel the pieces in my mouth. Any explanations?

My dream is slightly different...I bite into the very thin wine glasses and then spit out the glass which flows from my mouth. There is never any blood, and I'm always at a party or gaving a good time. Later in the dream I'll feel a crunch in my teeth and spit out more glass, this will keep happening until there is no glass left. But it's always a party type atmosphere. The people and scenarios will change but the glass part is always the same.
