To Anonymous who said: "you watch way too much television"
1) For about ten years in my life, I had no TV
2) Someone once said something like: "you seem to live in a pop culture vacuum."
So, I am trying to make up for the second point. The truth is, I watch very little TV, usually no more than one program per evening, but that is variable.
So, just to prove it how many shows I have missed, I offer a brief list of shows I have never seen. Believe it or not.
Degrassi - I have never seen a single episode of Next Generation, first generation, my generation, primary junior, senior, frosh, or kindergarten. I know it's some sort of Canadian cultural phenomenon, but I missed it, and now it's too late, and frankly, the ads creep me out.
Alf - This was based on ET, right? If I remember, he was afraid of cats. I saw maybe five minutes.
Moonlighting - I have a serious beef with the casting director of this silly show (again, which I have never seen, but I did see the advertisements). Anyway, I blame the casting personnel for inflicting the pugnacious face or Bruce Willis on the innocent of the world. What did I ever do to deserve that? I can only think of one other lug with an uglier face, and that would be Sylvester Stallone. Is Cybill Sheppard famous only because she dated Elvis. I know it is sacrilegious, but I never loved Elvis.
Bosom Buddies - Yikes!
I just realized that I could be here all day if I keep on going, so, off the top of my head, some shows that aired in my lifetime that I have never seen. OK, so I had to look some up to jog my memory:

LOL...well, you haven't really missed much. My TV viewing has dwindled to almost nothing in recent years. Most of it is just plain garbage. I rent more DVDs now than I ever rented before, or watch something on the Sci-Fi Channel.
OK crabby pants. Just kidding.
I like your options for the next Degrassi series'. I'd like to see the Degrassi Kindergarden when mini-Joey starts puttin' the moves on the teacher!

You should watch Six Feet Under. One of the best shows ever in my humble opinion. I have to admit that the shows on your list the other day, I have never seen.

I haven't watched many because they were before my time, and jeez, no one watches all of those shows for crying out loud!
Joni Loves Chachi reruns are brilliant when you're watching late at night whilst drunk or high ... they get that cheeze factor just right for such a mood.
running42k: Six Feet Under requires cable, whcich I am sadly lacking, at present.
The Muppet Show was my husband's favorite show. Fortunately he could fall back on Fraggle Rock when they canceled the Muppets.
Two and a Half Men is one of the few shows we watch. You should try it; the housekeeper is hysterical!
If you never watched any of those TV shows... How come you can name them all? I suspect there's a dark secret hidden in your closet - like a small black and white television set...

Well, I've seen all but 10 of those listed(9 of those I've never heard of) and only 3 would I bother watching again. You didn't miss much, but managed to save a few extra brain cells I'd wager. Now, If you'll excuse me I must run and see if Space: Above and Beyond is available on DVD.

I never saw a Seinfeld episode until it was in reruns. For all those years, I had no idea what all those people were laughing about.
Oh my goodness...I love tv and pop culture and movies and cheap sleazy novels. I also love Russian Literature, the Criterion Selections of films and Bach. I consider myself to be shallow and proud of it. I also know that my shallowness is about eight layers deep. There is something to be learned from everything, even crap.

I couldn't recognise the names of most (or perhaps 'any') of the programmes you described - hence the comment. I did not mean to offend anyone.
Then again, I am renowned for being a 'TV non-watcher' (lack of time perhaps?)- the very reason why I am unable to participate in many morning conversations at work. I do, however, hate TV and the fact that everything has become about sensationalism.

I intended my post to be funny, at least in some ways. You are entitled to your opinion, of course. I think the "reaction" was simply that I watch far less TV than what the previous post might have suggested. I went through a hating TV phase for years, but I have discovered that there are some shows that I like. I am reminded that my parents watched 6 hours of TV every night. I manage one hour on average. That's not much.

I think it's important to note that Alf is not afraid of cats. In fact, he likes to eat them.
You must watch, and get into and love, Degrassi (particularly Junior High and High). Not because they are good, but because you are a stubbornly proud Canadian.
