When Children are Dentists

In my dream last night, I was being fitted with new teeth, fashioned from either Play Doh or plasticine. And, while certainly not durable in any sort of way, they had the advantage of being multi-coloured. The dentist may have been a child, but I am not sure. The only thing I could see were extremely large plastic brightly coloured dental tools: orange clamps, pink needles, yellow mirrors, etc. Originally, I blamed this dream on Stephen Harper's new nauseating advertising campaign, but then I wondered if it had to do with the return of students to campus.

They are here in full force today. And, man, do they look young. The converse is that I am looking old to them. My dad used to say "you are only young once." Too bad it took me so long to figure out what he meant.

Multi-colored teeth ... hey, why not? It could be the next step in the teeth-whitening craze ... now TOOTH BLEACH for colors!

Don't sweat it. I think that everyone looks so young on my campus.
Damn kids.

I think in another ten years, I will have crossed that crest and my health care folk will seem younger than me... at the moment most are older if not the same age as me.

there's an advantage to having been around the block a few times...

I don't think Play Doh teeth would fare very well with a rare steak. The colors would be cool though.

By the way, I'm currently living next to the UC Santa Barbara campus. Man, I must be getting old because I used to love checking out college girls. Now they look like kids to me. :p

It is not unreasonable to blame just about anything on that obnoxious Harper campaign. There are a few media assaults I am sick to death of....that campaign is one of them....the 'who wants to pay retail' ads are another....the third is Bill Carroll (its all in the name...kind of reminds me of my homeland) from CFRB radio (good god, now they've even put the up on a billboard)...

It sucks that by the time we figure this one out, we're too old to do much about it.
The kids at my school look so young too, I swear they are bussing them in from junior highs...

I spent the day at the hospital today, and, while such an experience is never 'enjoyable' I spent the day surrounded by medical personnel who actually listened to me, and gave every appearance of actually CARING. It was very refreshing.

And most of them were my age or older, which was reassuring.

However, there were no multi-colored anythings, unless you count religious icons on ppl's desks (this is Texas, after all).

My dental dreams always involve being toothless.

That kind of creeps me out a bit, about the coloured teeth. Yeesh.

They do look young! I'm sure I looked young my first year, but I honestly thought there was some sort of junior high school field trip happening. Do these kids even have pubic hair yet? And the most irritating part of the whole matter is that they can't seem to go anywhere alone. Groups of three, four, five of them block the sidewalks, the hallways, the stairs. I'm going to start knocking them over. Oh, and the boys are all sex-starved and seem to think school is a great place to pick up girls. They're all on the look-out, and if one more gives me "the look", I'm going to have to make some allusion to the fact that I was having sex when they were listening to Raffi.
