You Wanna Know What I Think is Weird about Blogging?

I'll tell you anyway.

Have you ever stopped to consider that the person who comments on your blog regularly might be a moron? But, seriously, I often reflect on the fact that people form cyber-friendships with people they might not otherwise click. Or, that people completely misprepresent themselves for some purpose. I am not referring to any of the fine folks who comment here ;-)

Who can say if that 24 year old college girl is not actually an obese 55 year old man who sits in front of his computer for hours scratching his testicles while dressed only in smelly underwear and a tattered bathrobe? No, I am not describing myself.

What I am trying to say is that I think blogging has sparked cyber-friendships that may not otherwise have happened. I think that's a good thing. By the way, I do not live in Toronto, I am not a librarian, and I am not a man.

I've read a LOT of blogs bragging about what hot babes they are. I'm sure these women are shy, 300 lb wannabes.
I prefer reading blogs that express their view on everyday life experiences. Then it doesn't matter if you're shy and 300 lbs; you're just HUMAN.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! ROFLMAO!

Yeah, and it sometimes spawns something else... um, yeah...

I'm not female, and I don;t live in london and am preggars. I am a 90 year old man living in a cave somewhere in MACHu PICCU

I think you are wrong.

Since I find that the snap jusgements you make about people who leave comments are usually more accurate than if you were to meet them.

For one thing you get the essence of the person, without the judgements about looks, age, body language.... or indeed odour.... that cloud judgements in 'real life'....

btw.... I am a know all.... lol

...with people they might not otherwise click.

Heh. Yeah. That struck me as funny.

And no misrepresentation at all. I'm a moron in real life as well.

So (see 1st comment for this to make sense) then if I say I'm really fat and shy, will everyone think I'm an outgoing, hot babe?? hurray! Then that's just what I am! Anyways, back to the original post. I can almost hear the sound effects to the "scratching of the testicles"...but let's not dwell there any longer. So if you are not a librarian, not a man and you don't live in Toronto, what are you? But no. I don't believe anyone would make up being a librarian. And Toronto, while maybe somewhat exotic to someone, isn't really the kind of place one pretends to live. We are led to believe it is actually men pretending to be women rather than women pretending to be men. So that makes you really a man just pretending to be, well, a man. Hey, I'm pretty sharp!

ha ha, I always think of this and I always proxy my ip because of it.

I think there are really interesting people out there ... but what if they are not people? What if they are space aliens sent by google.

It does cross my mind and I think that in eighty percent of the cases they are probably who they say they are. In ten percent of the cases they aren't. I've only seen pictures of maybe one twentieth of the people I have ever met by blogging.
I do get leary when someone aims me out of the blue and asks questions but I have aimed with maybe three people I have met via online journals.

Maybe more but the more would be people at my school that I didn't know prior to seeing them in livejouranl or something.

I'm actually an old lady from Kansas wishing so bad I had left this pathetic state when I was young and able to walk that I am living my life as fake girl named alice in wonderland or not.

This is funy too because I had just posted in my blog about Cranky, one of the people I link to having posted a picture of himself and his kids soccer team and how it was weird to see him as a real person. Now I am wondering if it is him or if he is some old man who accosted and stole some poor kids soccer picture while the kid was on the way home from school.

Oh by the way.... that is why my site is called Wonderland or Not

Yes. Not so much that they could be fat testicle scratching men... but even, as they say they are, I would probably not like them in real life, or more likely never given myself the chance to like them.

I appreciate blogs for that.

This was interesting. I know you in real life and can vouch that this blog represents you (except you forget to mention your pine tree fetish). Now for misrepresentation, certain people are going to misrepresent themselves in "reality" as well as blog land. It's a personality trait.

MK: true, true. Very funny.

I think you're totally right (that people form online 'friendships' with those they wouldn't in real life). But that's OK. It's a good thing I think.

We just sort of appreciate each other for our comments, don't get irritated by our bad habits (testicle scratching not withstanding...) and go about our days.

I wouldn't know whether to agree with you or not, regarding formulating friendships with folks I ordinarily would NOT in real life, as I have yet to meet those folks in real life and would not know one way or the other.

The exception to this thought would be if someone appears to be an idiot or lacks a sense of humor or humanity in their comments, I wouldn't actively foster a friendship with them, online or real time, regardless.

I do believe, however, that blogging affords each of us (to our own degree and determination) a more level playing field with one another, to truly get to know the person, without anything affecting or influencing that opinion. All we have on here which is truly ours is our words, and sometimes, our pictures.

I suppose it could be true, but gosh, it would take an awful lot of energy to write a whole blog worth of lies.

Of course you're no man - you're clearly a fish. Any old fool would know that by lookin at the picture.

both post and comments were entertaining! I have been disillusioned on the net...this guy sent me a really nice studio photo of what might have been at some point in his life, and then he put his webcam on live....oh fuckity oh...he was the 350lb man in a ripped tank top, all sweaty and hairy. nice. I don't have a webcam right now...

Have I not been here in so long that I *think* you've changed templates, or have you changed templates?

Your post is so true. And the comments as well. And many of my actual friends are folks I've met via blogging, actually. It's sort of cool, that, through my blog, I moved to Texas having friends I'd never met waiting to welcome me.

An interesting twist on a topic others have touched on. Your visual imagery rocks! lol
(I have two blogs, one under this name and the other as Silvermoon, but I'm truly not unbalanced...ok, maybe a little... ;)

MissMeliss: Yes, I've changed templates. Welcome to the new improved and fishier template.

That's OK. Truth is, I am actually the dog from that cartoon.

So - got any good looking bitches in your neck of the woods?

Are blogs that bad? I thought IRC is where all the pretty 24 yr old girls lurk, 'scratching their testicles', as you say.

After reading current posts and a few from your archives, I realized I had swum in here very recently, only under my other blogging name of "Green-Eyed Lady(GEL)". Laughing just as hard at re-reading this!
