Happy (Canadian) Thanksgiving

Just a quick note about turkey. In my family, we were always asked if we would like "dark or dry meat." I come from a long tradition of bad turkey cookers. Chicken is better anyway.

My preference is the dark meat...simply because it's VERY rare that it becomes the dry meat.

Once again, my turkey was edible. I'm oh so pleased.

Happy Thanksgiving to you too!
Mine was a tad dry, much like the three bottles of wine we drank before dinner. Hope yours was awesome.

I rock at making turkeys. Of course, I just made turkey like a month ago. We nearly died it was so good. I don't believe in waiting for holidays to have turkey, so this Thanksgiving we're having chicken parmesan.

Wow--I thought only a god could make a turkey. It's intelligent design .... or something.

Can I admit total ingnorance to the fact of Canadian Thanksgiving without having it held against me?

I prefer vegetarian Lasagna.

I think the deal with turkey is that it takes way, way less time to cook than every cookbook on the planet tells you it takes. This is due to an international conspiracy, devised by the same evil-doers who killed the Kennedys to cause you to make dry turkey. I usually get drafted to prepare the big dinners in our family, but this year, Tuffy's brother's wife Viv stepped up to the plate. Her turkey was quite excellent, I must say.

My tip for making a turkey that isn't dry, put it in the oven upside down. Then near the end flip it over to get it browned on the top.

We had lamb.

I had turkey at my inlaws on Sunday and my parents on Monday. My mother in law was laughing and carrying on about how bad her turkey turned out. She was all "come look at the turkey" and there was absolutely nothing wrong with it. It was a perfect turkey. Honestly. My mom's turkey was good too, but she made so many buns and yorkshire pudding and potatoes and squash and stuff that I barely ate any.

Chris: I'll have to try that. I've never heard of such a thing.

the secret to a good turkey is a good D and C along with the pap smear and it must be young.
